Morning Dew #53

God, my Source

“For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.” 2 Corinthians 10: 4 (NASB)

Last week we looked at living positively in spite of evil circumstances. Joseph’s life in the OT is a good example (Genesis 45).

Faith in God— Joseph believed in God’s leading and special plan for his life and so he remained positive and persevered in-spite-of wicked people and demoralizing circumstances.

Diligence— Joseph, despite disappointment and ill-treatment, did his best work even in chains, because he worked to please God not man.

Compassion— Joseph, when finally promoted and powerful, revealed his identity to his abusive brothers. They expected retribution.  Instead, Joseph gave forgiveness. He looked past their dastardly behavior and placed the blame on the evil-one. He left vengeance to God.

Sometimes we are surprised by the source of malice— for Joseph and for Jesus it came from those closest— family. The devil chooses the most effective tools as he seeks our downfall. Like Joseph and Jesus we are called to pray for them— even when we don’t want to! Behind the dark cloud of adversity is victory, if we would persevere.

Dear Lord, I pray for faith to share Your gift of forgiveness, wisdom to speak against wrong, and courage to know when to walk away from those who would hurt me. Amen 🙏🏽
