Morning Dew #15

God, my Promise-keeper

Above, John attempts to describe scenes in heaven: Mass choirs praising God, and indescribable colors that are only like sparkling emeralds and crystals. His descriptions confirm Jesus’ promise to us, “In My Father’s house are many mansions . . . And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself. . . John 14: 1-3.

As a little girl, I looked forward to Christmas. My excitement grew with the colorful Christmas cards decorating the living room, brilliant superfluous blood red poinsettias, joyous Christmas music everywhere, and the delectable smell of burnt sugar, spices, and creamed butter for Christmas cakes.

I imagine the sights and sounds of my first morning in heaven will exceed all my expectations. The euphoric sounds of angel choirs singing, “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty”, the iridescent rainbow around God’s throne, the verdant Tree of Life, and the freedom of new bodies that leap, dance, and luxuriate in God’s presence!

Dear Lord, help me to believe that the hardships of earth are nothing to be compared with the joys You have prepared for me in Your home. Give me the strength and faith to live each day in anticipation of heaven. Amen.
